Rev. Torrie Osgood
Rev. Franklin Torrance Osgood is a native of New Bern, NC. He graduated from Atlantic Christian College in 1977, majoring in Religion and Philosophy. He attended seminary at Brite Divinity School, on the campus of Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, TX; graduating in 1980. He served as associate minister for First Christian, Orange, TX, then First Christian, McKinney, TX. He became the minister of Ocoee Christian in Ocoee, FL. He returned to North Carolina to serve churches in Robersonville, Oak City, and Hassell, and also served as the Regional Youth Minister of North Carolina. In 1997 he became the pastor of First Christian, Rocky Mount, NC, and in 2004 he became pastor of First Christian, Columbia, SC. After a short pastoral in Dunn, NC, he became pastor of Bethany in 2016. He is married to Christy Beach (25 years) and has one son, Clay Osgood of Dallas, TX.
Rev. Roger Bennett
A retired professor of language and literature, Roger was educated at the Valley School, Milligan College, East Tennessee State University, and Kent State University. Although he has worked as an English professor all of his life, his real passion is music, particularly Christian hymnology. He has been the musical director of the Craven Consort for over 40 years. Roger was ordained in the Morland Christian Church in Canton, Ohio. He has served as associate pastor and minister of music in many different churches in the past 50 years and has been serving at Bethany Christian Church since the late 80s. He resides with his wife Elizabeth in New Bern, North Carolina.
Melissa, a native of Pamlico County, lives with her husband, Chris; son, Parker; sweet Beagle, Bo; sassy Chihuahua, Shorty and eight chickens with various names and personalities. She has attended Bethany Christian Church for 31 years and has worked as church secretary since 2016. Always happy to help, Melissa assists the minister with various ministries and worship services, helps publish the church’s newsletter and creates the weekly bulletin. She also does general clerical duties such as word processing, copying, managing office supplies, and answering the phone. Besides Bible study and playing in the bell choir, her favorite church activities include working with the communications committee and co-producing with the associate minister the annual Christmas program. Melissa has a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology and a Master’s of Art in Teaching, both from East Carolina University.
Dawn Grimes Metts is a native of New Bern, NC. She began serving as a church pianist around the age of 13. She graduated high school from Ruth’s Chapel Christian School in New Bern, NC. She went on to attend and graduated from Craven Community College in 1996 with a major in Early Childhood Development. She has served as a pianist at Ruth’s Chapel FWB and First Baptist Churches in New Bern, NC and Bethany Christian Church in Jasper, NC . She came to Bethany in 2017. She married Carlton “Carlie” Metts II in 1997. They have 3 daughters, Emilie, Brieana & Hannah and a grandson, Noah.
