CHILDREN PUT ON GREAT CHRISTMAS PROGRAM!

The children’s Christmas program, “Is It Really Christmas,” was the main attraction last night, followed by a visit from Santa Claus. The stage in the sanctuary was full of living Christmas trees, angels and elves, and the sanctuary was covered floor to ceiling with projected laser dots. All seemed magic as the angels passed out Christmas presents of love, peace, forgiveness, eternal life and abundant life. Below are some photos of the presentation, and of Santa’s visit.

POTASHCORP TO SPONSOR OPERATION VEGGIE BOX’S FORUM ON HUNGER

Operation Veggie Box (OVB) announced today that PotashCorp – Aurora
will help sponsor the upcoming Forum On Hunger which will be held January 25, 2014 at Camp Caroline. PotashCorp is the world’s largest fertilizer company in terms of capacity.

Ray McKeithan, Manager, Public and Government Affairs
PotashCorp – PCS Phosphate Aurora, said that the company has learned of the
exciting things happening with Operation Veggie box and that “We want to participate!”

The Forum On Hunger is an attempt to bring together charitable organizations and churches in Pamlico County to focus on the issue of hunger. OVB wants to create a new conversation on this issue that will elevate public awareness of this challenging concern and to focus local leaders on the need to identify new ideas that can help improve the operations of existing relief agencies. OVB hopes the forum will provide organizations ideas that they can implement to help solve the issue of hunger in the area.

PotashCorp is the second organization that has agreed to help fund this event. Earlier, the Pamlico District Christian Men’s Fellowship, Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) partially funded the project.

Operation Veggie Box is a new Christian Ministry started in 2013 at Bethany Christian
Church, Arapahoe. It is actively supported by the surrounding
Christian community of Pamlico County and New Bern.

OPERATION VEGGIE BOX BRIEFS BETHANY ON FALL CLOSEOUT

David Bailey presented a summary of Fall 2013 Operation Veggie Box operations at Bethany this morning, concluding that the Fall garden was significantly more successful than hoped in August when operations began.

Bailey pointed out that OVB showed that vegetables can be produced for less than one-quarter the retail price; that the garden created teamwork opportunities both within Bethany and between Bethany and other churches; that the OVB Facebook page reached people who had not heard of Bethany before; and that the OVB ministry reached some people who were unchurched and may have created a link between them and church.
