OVB DELIVERS 41 UNITS, 230 LBS, TO FISHES & LOAVES

Operation Veggie Box (OVB) today delivered 41 units of vegetables totaling 230.5 lbs. to Fishes & Loaves in Oriental for distribution to hungry people.

Picking began at 9:30 A.M., with Jennie Adams, Jimmy Elks, Mac Harris, Merritt Watson and Lorraine Yeager harvesting squash, zucchini, kale, collards and now cabbages that are just becoming ripe. The picking went fast: Only 46 minutes.

Packaging began at 10:47 A.M. at the Bethany pavilion, with weighing, sorting, bagging and boxing and then a final weighing, followed by loading. Joining the packing operations today were Julia Peterson of Bethany, and Evelyn Paul and Palmer Stowe of Silver Hill Christian Church, which Sunday became the first church to partner with OVB after the founding at Bethany. Welcome aboard, Silver Hill!

Operation Veggie Box is a ministry that is seeking to reduce both physical and spiritual hunger in our region by growing fresh produce and distributing it, along with a spiritual message, to hungry families through a variety of distribution systems.
