SNOW, BLOOMING TREE, PROVIDE CONTRAST

One photo taken Wednesday, February 13, showing a tree in bloom in winter, provides a contrast to another photograph taken Saturday, February 16, showing the large snow flakes in the short-lived snow event. With a high temperature of 62° forecast for Tuesday, and temperatures in the high 50’s to low 60’s later this week and on the weekend, there will probably be opportunities for more flowers, bushes and trees in bloom. God’s weather is unpredictable, but beautiful.

YOUTH HOLD SUCCESSFUL SPAGHETTI SUPPER

Bethany’s youth held a successful and enjoyable spaghetti supper tonight, with performances by the Chime Choir and drawings for door prizes. The supper was delicious and the wait staff was superb.

Here are some photos from the event.

CMF MOVES FOWARD WITH COLUMBARIUM

The Christian Men’s Fellowship (CMF) has cleared a site behind the church to create a columbarium–a place for the respectful storage of cinerary urns (a deceased’s cremated remains).  Del Lee removed the old building materials on the site, and Justin Lee and Elbert Lee, Jr., cleared the site of underbrush. Although some trees were removed, most remain to provide an attractive, restful area.

Bricks (shown below) salvaged from the building that burned in 2007 will be incorporated into the columbarium plans.

The word columbarium comes from the Latin columbia (dove) and originally referred to compartmentalized housing for doves and pigeons, called a “dovecote.”
