The quilt that was dedicated Homecoming Sunday is pictured below. The women of the quilt team (see October 11 post) spent two years making a quilt with church family names that updates the one from 1912 that also is on display in the fellowship hall.

We are sad to learn of the death yesterday of an Arapahoe community member, Sarah Ann Dixon Murphy, 80. She was a member of Aversboro Road Baptist Church in Garner. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Greenleaf Memorial Park Lakeside Chapel, Rev. Penny Dollar Farmer officiating. We express our condolences to the family and offer our prayers for their comfort.
Bethany’s monthly music program series Sunday will feature Southern Gospel Music by Simon and Sara Spalding, the multi-talented Wilson family, and others, singing and playing fiddle, banjo, guitar, mandolin, autoharp and other instruments.
The Wilson family are members of Tabernacle Baptist Church in New Bern. Scott plays guitar and Monica sings. Their daughters are Shelby, who plays mandolin; Hannah, who plays violin/fiddle and mandolin; and Lillie, who plays 5-string banjo. Roger Bennett will play the upright bass (bull fiddle), and a number of other guests will sing and/or play.
The music to be played includes Cripple Creek, To Caanan’s Land I’m on My Way, Victory in Jesus, Down in the River to Pray, Will the Circle be Unbroken, and much more.
The program, which begins at 6 pm in Bethany’s sanctuary, is free to all, and the community is invited. A free-will offering will be taken. Don’t miss the program Sunday; it promises to be a spectacular event!
