Bethany set out on its transformational journey the week of Sept. 17 with Dr. Richard Hamm’s class, Recreating the Church: Leadership for the Post Modern Age.
The way the class works is that we view an online video-on-demand presentation each of the 5 weeks the class is in session, followed by an interactive session on Thursday nights at 9 p.m., in which those who participate can talk with Dr. Hamm and ask questions generated by our viewing of the video on demand.
Although those who signed up can view the video on demand and participate in the interactive session on their personal computers wherever they may be, Bethany is offering the video-on-demand session on Wednesday nights at 7 p.m. at the Arapahoe Charter School for those who want to view the video-on-demand session in a group. On the Thursday interactive sessions, one can join the discussion by phone from any location.
Even though two sessions–The Shift from Modern to Post-Modern, and Generational Differences and Similarities– have been completed, it is well worth watching the remaining video-on-demand sessions and participating in the Thursday night interactive sessions. The information is not only quite interesting, but extremely useful as well. The session-3 video on demand–The Life Cycle of Congregations–is scheduled to be completed prior to the interactive session tomorrow night at 9 p.m.
The session-4 video on demand–A Visioning Process for Congregations–is scheduled for the week of Oct. 8, with the group session Wednesday at 7 p.m., and the interactive session Thursday night, Oct. 11 at 9 p.m. Session 5–Leading Adaptive Change in Churches–skips a week, with the video on demand the week of Oct. 21 (group session Wednesday, Oct. 24), and the interactive session Oct. 25.
The classes only mark the beginning of our journey, about which we’ll have much more information shortly.
