Congregational Meeting Scheduled for Feb. 26

There will be a congregational meeting immediately after worship February 26 to consider a proposed amendment to the Constitution and By-Laws of Bethany Christian Church.

While the by-laws provide for the election of honorary elders and deacons who have served with honor and dignity but no longer serve, there is no such provision for honoring the service of those who are not elders or deacons.

Therefore, the board proposes an amendment to the by-laws that would allow the election of officers emeritus, and recommends that Clara Jean Ensley, who served devotedly as church clerk for 40 years be the first to be so honored.

Lenten Season is Time for the “Practice of Spiritual Disciplines”

During Lent, when Christians prepare for the celebration of Christ’s death and resurrection, Rev. Watson will offer a study of spiritual disciplines, “to learn what they are and why they are vital to living the Christian life in these times.” The goal is “to practice the spiritual disciplines we study and not just learn what they are.” Those participating in the study will gain insight into how we can enrich our spiritual lives.

The study will take place in the fellowship hall at 7 pm on Wednesdays through Lent, beginning Feb. 22. Those who cannot be at the studies on Wednesday nights can share in the studies via the internet at The Water’s Edge.

Sign-up forms are available in the narthex, or you may view and print one by clicking on the link below.
